LONDON — No less than two folks had been killed and a number of other injured in a car-ramming and stabbing exterior Manchester’s Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation on Yom Kippur.
Larger Manchester Police stated the suspected attacker was shot however his situation remained unconfirmed due to “suspicious items on his person.”
Prime Minister Keir Starmer known as the assault “appalling” and “all the more horrific” for happening on Judaism’s holiest day. He added, “We will do everything to keep our Jewish community safe,” confirming further police had been being deployed nationwide.
King Charles III stated he and Queen Camilla had been “deeply saddened and shocked to learn of the horrific attack in Manchester, especially on such a significant day for the Jewish community.”
Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham informed the BBC he may “only imagine the fear this will bring,” praising police for responding inside seven minutes.
