Anyone who knows the amazing crew at No Kid Hungry can’t help but be awed by the creativity they have applied to combatting childhood hunger in America since the campaign’s launch in 2010.  The recently launched “Rebuilding” initiative takes that to new heights.

”Rebuilding” is an awareness campaign uniting the public to help rebuild a nation where every child in every community has the meals they need to thrive.  As part of this campaign, No Kid Hungry is:

Rebuilding Atlanta Georgia Mural

Alyssa Pointer

 — working with artists in five communities across the country to develop and produce large-scale murals in Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C and Detroit. The murals are inspired by and embody the perspective of local children on how they were affected by the pandemic and their vision for a better future.

— using the murals as inspiration for a five-part micro-documentary series, bringing to light the stories behind these communities. The five-part series tells stories of what life has been like in the wake of the pandemic for local families and kids and how schools and community groups revamped their efforts to feed their communities in times of crisis and beyond. Check out this recently launched micro-documentary from Los Angeles.

MORE FOR YOU

— collaborating with more than fifty brands to provide consumers with opportunities to help kids get the meals they need by dining, shopping or sharing social media posts about the initiative. Partners include Citi, Arby’s Foundation, Checkers & Rally’s, Denny’s, General Mills Big G Cereals, Habit Burger Grill, Hickory Farms, Humana, Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats, Noodles & Company and The Popeyes Foundation.

“The pandemic has been devastating for American kids and families, and too many will feel the impact of this crisis well into the future. This crisis revealed how critical strong meals programs are for kids and families. That work must continue,” said Diana Hovey, Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at Share Our Strength, the organization behind the No Kid Hungry campaign.

“As we look ahead, rebuilding starts when every kid in every community has access to the food they need. We all have a part to play, and our hope is to make it as simple as possible to contribute,” Hovey said.

You can experience the murals and micro-documentaries and learn how to support this effort to fight childhood hunger with No Kid Hungry’s corporate partners by visiting Rebuilding For Kids.
