Hull KR head coach Willie Peters is aware of that there’s “no extra motivation required” when taking part in their rivals Hull FC on Friday.
Peters’ Robins have been flying excessive in Tremendous League after getting their 2025 Tremendous League season after an unimaginable six-match unbeaten run.
Nevertheless, they have been introduced again all the way down to earth on residence turf in a 28-12 loss to reigning champions Wigan final week, giving Hull KR a reminder that the competitors has a protracted strategy to go.
In the meantime, Hull FC bounced again from their Problem Cup derby loss with an announcement 28-16 win over Warrington Wolves, giving themselves the chance to clinch prime spot from their foes with a win on Friday.
Whereas Hull KR are 1-0 up within the derby tally this season, the Black and Whites have an opportunity to assert prime spot from their outdated enemy and avenge their cup exit on the most important of levels.
With all that at play, Peters believes that his gamers can be extra motivated than ever, and if they aren’t, they will not be in a Robins shirt going ahead.
“I think it is pretty easy mentally (to get the players going for a derby). You don’t have to motivate too much to get them going for these types of games, the motivation will be there,” Peters stated.
“The ambiance was electrical on the MK Stadium just a few weeks in the past and will probably be enormous this week.
“Obviously, they are coming off the back of a great win for them (vs Warrington) so we know what we are expecting in terms of atmosphere.
“As a coach, you do not have to get gamers motivated this week since you wish to suppose they’re already motivated which they are going to be.
“If we win, we stay top of Super League, if FC win they can go top.
“However it’s not about that, it’s a derby. If gamers are in search of motivation this week I actually will not be choosing them shifting ahead if they’re in search of motivation this week.”
Whereas Hull KR got here up trumps in that 32-16 Problem Cup win, Peters is aware of that John Cartwright’s aspect will all the time be up for a “big game” and can have that very same perspective come Friday.
“They are a team that don’t go away. They have been in every single game,” Peters added.
“We obviously got away with it and got into a good lead but they fought their way back and got back into the game.
“Then the week after they play an excellent Warrington crew at their place and have win.
“I knew beforehand that they have got a lot of experience, they have got big game players, so there is not a great deal more that I learnt because I already knew and respected what they had before we played them and I respect what they have done since.
“Each derby no matter ladder place is all the time a major sport within the calendar and we’re wanting ahead to it.”
