The top of the World Well being Group, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, says he and his United Nations colleagues “escaped death narrowly” at Yemen’s predominant airport when Israeli airstrikes focused the ability.

Talking with the BBC, Tedros described the scene on the airport in the course of the Thursday assault as “very chaotic.”

“People were in disarray and running everywhere,” he advised Radio 4’s At the moment program on Saturday.

The WHO chief stated he and his workforce have been “completely exposed” and that it was “a matter of luck, otherwise if the missile deviated just slightly it could have been on our heads.”

Tedros had been ready to board a flight within the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, when the Israeli missile struck. When the airport got here beneath assault, one of many U.N. aircraft’s crew was injured. Not less than three others on the airport have been reported killed.
