WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The USA is telling its residents to go away Lebanon and is deploying extra navy would possibly within the Center East as preventative and defensive measures, Jonathan Finer, White Home Nationwide Safety Council deputy adviser, stated on Sunday.
“Our goal is de-escalation, our goal is deterrence, our goal is defense of Israel,” Finer stated in an interview with CBS’ “Face the Nation”.
Regional tensions have soared following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas’ high chief, in Tehran on Wednesday, a day after an Israeli strike in Beirut killed Fuad Shukr, a senior navy commander from the Lebanese group Hezbollah, which like Hamas is backed by Iran.
