KYIV — The US and Ukraine are poised to signal a complete deal to collectively spend money on Ukraine’s minerals, uncooked supplies and pure assets that may provide Ukraine some stage of long-term U.S. assist.

Chatting with Ukraine’s ICTV community, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal mentioned the nation’s lead negotiator for the deal — Financial system Minister Yulia Svyrydenko — is heading to Washington to signal the deal alongside Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Shmyhal mentioned the funding fund could be a 50-50 partnership with the U.S. and would help Ukraine’s reconstruction and growth.

“This is a very good partnership agreement that provides for huge benefits and investments for our country, and provides for the possibility of receiving military assistance from the United States,” Shmyhal mentioned.

“The American side can also count new, I repeat, new military aid to Ukraine as a contribution to this fund,” he added.

President Trump mentioned it will be a great deal for each Ukraine and the U.S.

He famous that Ukraine has massive deposits of uncommon earth metals, that are key elements in batteries and different applied sciences. “We made a deal where our money is secure, where we can start digging and doing what we have to do. It’s also good for them, because you’ll have an American presence at the site,” Trump mentioned. That presence, he mentioned, “will keep a lot of bad actors out of the country, or certainly out of the area where we’re doing the digging.”

“Our side is ready to sign,” Treasury Secretary Bessent instructed reporters Wednesday.

The signing might mark a victory for the Ukrainians after a sequence of twists and turns in negotiating with the U.S. In February, the Trump administration had pressed Zelenskyy to signal an settlement that gave Ukraine little or no and would have used earnings to recoup support the U.S. has already permitted for the nation.
