Posting on his Fact Social Platform, Trump mentioned the 2 leaders had a “very friendly conversation,” and reiterated the troop dedication to securing the border with the U.S. that Sheinbaum introduced.

President Trump is imposing 25% tariffs on most imports from Mexico and Canada. Mexico supplies more than a quarter of the fresh fruits and vegetables in the U.S., including avocados popular in Super Bowl guacamole.

President Trump says fentanyl smuggled into the U.S. is a key reason for imposing tariffs on Canada, China and Mexico. But NPR found that Trump and his team made false statements about the fentanyl crisis. Canada, in particular, plays no meaningful role in America's fentanyl-overdose epidemic.
