WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming “border czar” Tom Homan mentioned on Saturday that focused operations to detain migrants who’re within the U.S. illegally will start subsequent week, and indicated they’d contain a number of cities.
Requested on Fox Information if deportation raids can be launched in a number of cities, together with Chicago, Homan mentioned, “I wouldn’t categorize them as raids. There are going to be targeted enforcement operations.”
Requested how these operations can be obtained in so-called sanctuary cities, which have pledged to not use metropolis assets for federal immigration raids, Homan prompt the incoming Trump administration would goal metropolis jails.

A source told Reuters on Friday that New York and Miami would be targeted. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier that Immigration and Customs Enforcement would stage a week-long operation in Chicago with potentially hundreds of agents.
Homan, a former acting director of ICE, said the agency was planning its operations carefully.
“They (ICE brokers) will know who’s presumably within the family, together with youngsters … Each goal for this operation is well-planned, and the entire staff might be on the market for officers’ security causes.”
Requested when the flights of Trump’s promised mass deportations would start subsequent week, Homan was not particular.
“We’ve got over 700,000 illegal aliens in the United States with final order removals. President Trump has been clear from day one … he’s going to secure the border and he’s going to have the deportation operation.”
