Travis Scott, Drake, Apple Music, Live Nation and NRG Stadium were hit with a $2 billion lawsuit representing nearly 300 alleged victims in the tragedy at Astroworld in Houston two weeks ago, the largest out of over 100 lawsuits filed over the mass casualty that left 10 dead and hundreds injured

Key Facts

The lawsuit, announced Thursday by attorney Thomas J. Henry and filed in Harris County, Texas, is an amendment to a previous suit and now represents 282 victims from the concert, The Wrap reported.

Scott and other defendants named in the suit “chose to cut corners, cut costs, and put attendees at risk,” Henry claimed.

An additional 120 victims are seeking representation from his firm related to the crowd surge, according to a press release from Henry.

On Tuesday, a $750 million lawsuit was filed by another lawyer against Scott, Drake, LiveNation and Apple Music claiming “senseless gross negligence.”

Representatives for Scott have not yet returned Forbes’ request for comment.

Key Background

Scott’s lawyers and the Houston police department have both claimed that they did not have the authority to stop the concert, and instead have pointed blame for the show continuing at each other. Live Nation, which promoted the festival, has said the company will continue to participate in the police department’s investigation and will “address all legal matters at the appropriate time.” Drake performed at the concert alongside Scott. Scott has pledged to pay for the funerals of those who died at the concert.

Tangent

Scott has suffered professional repercussions related to the tragedy. This week Nike postponed a sneaker collaboration with the rapper, and video game Fortnite stopped the in-game sale of skins and icons associated with Scott.
