Bristol Rovers are “infuriated” by racist abuse directed at ahead Shaq Forde following Saturday’s Sky Guess League One match towards Studying.
Forde was focused on Instagram after being despatched off within the second half of his group’s 1-0 defeat on the Choose Automotive Leasing Stadium.
In response to Rovers, the message, which was highlighted by 20-year-old Forde and a few of his team-mates, contained “abusive and racist language”.
The membership, who intend to help a police investigation into the matter, mentioned they’re “sick and tired of racist behaviour blighting sport”.
Sky Sports activities Information has contacted Thames Valley Police for remark.
“Shaq is not the only Bristol Rovers player to receive racial abuse, with an incident under investigation only last week,” learn a press release on the membership web site.
“Even more sickening is that some of these messages come from individuals claiming to be Bristol Rovers supporters. Each time, the club has sought to act in the appropriate manner.”
Forde was dismissed for a second bookable offence within the fifty fifth minute after kicking the ball away.
Rovers mentioned the “same old methods of ‘combating’ racism” – the “carefully-crafted press releases and saturated social media posts” – are “not working”.
“Enough Is Enough,” continued the assertion.
“Our supporters – our real supporters – are sick and tired of being in any way associated with those ‘fans’ who comfortably send such abhorrent messages. We will not tolerate it.
“To the one who despatched Shaq this racist message, and to any one that claims to be a Gashead and engages in equally deplorable behaviour, we merely say this: You aren’t a Bristol Rovers fan. You aren’t welcome on the Memorial Stadium. We don’t want your help.”
Reading also expressed support for Forde and condemned the abuse.
“We’ll work alongside Saturday’s guests to make sure the perpetrator is recognized and proof is offered to the related authorities,” read a club statement.
“No particular person, whether or not on or off the pitch, must be subjected to such abuse. We stand by you, Shaq.”
