MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia’s Federal Safety Service (FSB) stated on Saturday it had foiled a plot by Ukraine to kill a high-ranking Russian officer and a pro-Russian battle blogger with a bomb hidden in a conveyable music speaker.
The FSB, the principle successor to the Soviet-era KGB, stated {that a} Russian citizen had established contact with an officer from Ukraine’s GUR navy intelligence company by means of the Telegram messaging utility.
On the directions of the Ukrainian intelligence officer, the Russian citizen had then retrieved a bomb from a hiding place in Moscow, the FSB stated. The bomb, equal to 1 1/2 kg of TNT and full of ball bearings, was hid in a conveyable music speaker, the FSB stated.
The FSB didn’t identify the officer or the blogger who was the goal of the plot. Ukraine’s GUR navy intelligence company couldn’t be instantly reached for remark.
Ukraine says Russia’s battle towards it poses an existential menace to the Ukrainian state and has made clear it regards focused killings – meant to weaken morale and punish these Kyiv regards responsible of battle crimes – as official.

Russia stated that it will take revenge for the Kirillov killing.
