The Crown Prosecution Service is reviewing a file of proof in relation to a Premier League footballer who was arrested on suspicion of rape.
The person, in his 30s, is accused of sexual offences between 2021 and 2023. The Metropolitan Police have now despatched their file to the CPS and the participant stays underneath investigation whereas enquiries proceed.
The footballer denies the allegations.
A spokesperson for the power stated: “Met officers are investigating following a number of reports of alleged sexual offences between 2021 and 2023.
“A full file has been handed to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and detectives proceed to work with prosecutors.
“Those who have come forward to police continue to receive support from Met officers.”
The participant, who has not been named, was first arrested in July 2022 over a rape allegation made by a girl in her 20s.
Whereas in custody, he was additional arrested in relation to the alleged rape of a second girl in April 2021 and June that 12 months.
The Metropolitan Police stated it could take no additional motion in relation to the alleged incident in June 2021 as a result of the related laws had not come into impact on the time.
In February 2023, police interviewed the person underneath warning over an alleged sexual offence stated to have been dedicated in Barnet, north London, in February 2022.
This pertains to a 3rd complainant and was reported in July 2022, police stated.
Officers interviewed the Premier League footballer once more, underneath warning, in November 2024.
The CPS will now determine procced, based mostly on the file of proof supplied by the Metropolitan Police. It’s not recognized when a choice will likely be made.
