The bells of Notre Dame Cathedral rang on Saturday night in Paris for the primary time since a fireplace devastated the Paris landmark in 2019.

Paris Archbishop Laurent Ulrich started the ceremony by knocking thrice on the cathedral’s door along with his workers, referred to as a crozier, which was created from one of many burned beams of the cathedral’s roof.

This photograph shows a new altar (front) designed by French artist and designer Guillaume Bardet, at the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, in Paris on Nov. 29, 2024.

The ceremony to mark the cathedral’s return to spiritual providers was attended by French President Emmanuel Macron and a whole lot of dignitaries, together with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, first girl Jill Biden, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the U.Okay.’s Prince William.

The cathedral’s restoration and return to service after 5 years has been a hit for Macron, who has had current political difficulties.
