WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of Protection Lloyd Austin spoke to his Israeli counterpart late on Tuesday, hours after Iran’s missile assault on Israel following Israel’s navy marketing campaign in Lebanon, and stated Washington was “well-postured” to defend its pursuits within the Center East.
WHY IT’S IMPORTANT
Earlier within the day, Iran fired ballistic missiles at Israel in retaliation for Israel’s navy marketing campaign in Lebanon that has killed a whole lot and displaced over 1,000,000 individuals.
Iran later stated its missile assault on Israel was over, barring additional provocation. No accidents have been reported in Israel and Washington known as Iran’s assault ineffective.

Israel and the U.S. have promised to retaliate towards Tehran as fears of a wider conflict intensify.

“The Secretary (Austin) reaffirmed that the United States remains well postured to defend U.S. personnel, allies, and partners in the face of threats from Iran and Iran-backed terrorist organizations,” the Pentagon stated in a press release after Austin’s name with Israeli Protection Minister Yoav Gallant.
“The minister and I expressed mutual appreciation for the coordinated defense of Israel against nearly 200 ballistic missiles launched by Iran and committed to remain in close contact,” Austin stated individually in a publish on X.
CONTEXT
Israel has escalated its navy marketing campaign in Lebanon in current days, launching operations that the Israeli navy says are concentrating on Lebanese Iran-backed Hezbollah militants.
Israel can be waging a conflict in Gaza, which adopted a lethal Oct. 7 assault on Israel by Palestinian Hamas militants. Israeli’s navy assault on Hamas-governed Gaza has killed tens of 1000’s of individuals, displaced almost everybody there, precipitated a starvation disaster within the enclave.
