Nike is postponing the release of its Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack shoe collaboration with Travis Scott after dozens of people were killed or injured during his Astroworld concert.

The delay of the shoe drop, which was scheduled for December 16 via Nike’s SNKRS app, comes 10 days after a crowd rush during the concert in Houston sent dozens of young people to the hospital, including a number of children who were in attendance. Scott—who has promised to pay for victims’ funerals—had already released a number of sneaker designs with Nike prior to the deadly event.

“Out of respect for everyone impacted by the tragic events at the Astroworld Festival, we are postponing the launch of the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack,” Nike announced today in statement posted within the SNKRS app.

Nike isn’t the first to postpone something with Scott since Astroworld. Last week, the Houston Rockets postponed its planned “Travis Scott Night,” where the NBA team planned to give away thousands of limited edition shirts during a game against the Detroit Pistons. Instead, the team hosted a moment of silence honoring the victims. So far, 10 people have died from their injuries including two high school students and a 9-year-old boy.

A number of well known brand from a variety of industries have collaborated with Scott over the past few years. This summer, he announced a partnership with Dior for a 2022 fashion collection. Last year, he partnered with McDonald’s on a meal. Other collaborations have included with Epic Games, Playstation, Mattel and General Mills. Since the Atroworld event, Epic has pulled its in-game music icons within Fortnite. Meanwhile, the online therapy company Betterhelp has offered a free month of therapy for people who were impacted and the will be covered by Scott’s record label, Cactus Jack.

A number of lawsuits have reportedly been filed by Astroworld attendees against Scott and music promoter Live Nation. In a tweet on Nov. 6 after the Astroworld concert, Scott wrote that he was “absolutely devastated by what took place last night.”

MORE FOR YOU

“My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival,” he wrote. “Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life. I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support families in need.”
