MEXICO CITY—Mexico’s president is warning america in opposition to any violation of its territory.

The warning comes after the U.S. categorised six of Mexico’s greatest organized crime teams as overseas terrorist organizations. (Two others from Venezuela and El Salvador had been included in that designation.)

Throughout her morning press briefing Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated the U.S. made the choice to designate the cartels as terrorist teams unilaterally, with out consulting Mexico. She stated Mexico, just like the U.S., is dedicated to preventing drug cartels, however by means of cooperation not coercion.

“This designation should not be used by the United States as an opportunity to invade our sovereignty,” she stated.

Sheinbaum stated Mexico is dedicated to working with america to cease the move of fentanyl, however Mexico, she stated, won’t tolerate any American interference.

To that finish, she despatched a proposed constitutional modification to Congress that explicitly says the Mexican folks reject overseas interventions.

“The people of Mexico will under no circumstance accept foreign interventions… like coup d’états or interferences in our elections or the violation of the Mexican territory be it by land, sea or air,” reads one proposed constitutional change.
