Given the “forgive and forget” mentality in the media world (think Mel Gibson and Nick Cannon, to name a few), the return of Lori Loughlin to acting following her involvement with fashion designer husband Mossimo Giannulli in the 2019 college admissions scandal is really no surprise. The former Full House star, known for her wholesome roles, is making her return to acting by reprising her Abigail Stanton character in the When Calls the Heart spinoff series, When Hope Calls, upon its season two return.
Loughlin was immediately fired from the Netflix Full House revival Fuller House as well as her Hallmark drama, When Calls the Heart, after the scandal exposed how wealthy parents ensured their children’s admission to top-tier universities.
Now, cable network GAC Family, formerly Great American Country and run by former Hallmark President Bill Abbott (who was fired by Hallmark for removing a same-sex couple from a series of commercial spots), is bringing Loughlin back for the first two episodes of the sophomore season of When Hope Calls. The new episodes of the series will air exclusively on the GAC Family network.
Loughlin’s Abigail character was written out of When Calls the Heart as having left the town to care for her sick mother “back East.”
Loughlin, of course, is not the only one in her family on the comeback trail. Daughter Olivia Jade is currently competing on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars.
