
Former footballer Joey Barton has been charged in reference to wounding with intent, after a person was left significantly injured from an assault close to a golf membership on the weekend.
The sufferer is being handled in hospital for critical accidents to his face and physique. He’s stated to be in a secure situation.
Barton, 43, and Gary O’Grady, 50, have been charged in reference to the assault.
They’re attributable to seem at Wirral Magistrates Courtroom on Tuesday afternoon.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police stated: “We can confirm that two men have been charged following an assault in Huyton on Sunday night, 8 March.
“At round 9pm, emergency providers had been known as to Fairway to reviews of a person having been assaulted close to to Huyton and Prescot Golf Membership.
“The victim was taken to hospital for assessment of serious injuries to his face and body. He is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
“Two males had been arrested. Detectives have now charged the next males with Part 18 wounding with intent: Joseph Anthony Barton, 43, of Widnes. Gary O’Grady, 50, of Huyton.
“Both men remain in custody to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court this afternoon, Tuesday 10 March.”
