UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – Israel is open to concepts for de-escalating the battle in Lebanon, Israel’s U.N. Ambassador Danny Danon stated on Tuesday, a day after america stated it was exploring some “concrete ideas” with allies and companions.
“As we speak there are important forces trying to come up with ideas and we are open-minded for that,” he advised reporters. “We are not eager to start any ground invasion anywhere … We prefer a diplomatic solution.”
Fierce combating this week between Israel and the Iran-backed Lebanese Hezbollah has elevated fears that almost a 12 months of battle will explode and destabilize the Center East, the place a battle between Hamas and Israel is already raging in Gaza.
Israel has stated it’s shifting its focus from Gaza to the northern frontier, the place Hezbollah has been firing rockets into Israel in help of Hamas, which can also be backed by Iran.
The Israeli authorities has made a battle precedence of securing its northern border and permitting the return there of some 70,000 residents displaced by the battle, whereas Hezbollah has vowed to not again down till a ceasefire is reached in Gaza.
On Monday, a senior State Division official stated the U.S. was discussing with allies and companions some “concrete ideas” to seek out an off ramp that can stop additional escalation within the combating and scale back tensions.
Danon stated Israel was taking the concepts critically.
“We still think it’s not too late for the Lebanese government, for the Lebanese people, to put pressure on Hezbollah to stop their aggression. If they will not fire rockets into Israel, then we will be able to bring back our residents, back to their communities, that’s it,” he stated.
Requested by reporters what they had been actively discussing at current, Danon stated: “I cannot get into that.”
