Donald Trump is contemplating imposing tariffs of about 25 per cent on imports of vehicles, medication and chips into the US as he teased the following steps of a quickly escalating commerce warfare.

The US president mentioned on Tuesday that he was weighing tariffs “in the neighbourhood” of 25 per cent on automotive imports and a minimum of that stage on pharmaceutical merchandise and semiconductors.
