BTS member Jin nearly scored the bestselling song in America this week, as his new single “Yours” was an immediate sales success upon its release. The tune missed out on the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart by just one space, coming in second to Adele’s “Easy on Me.” While it’s a little disappointing for the star to come so close to conquering the tally but miss the mark, he does make history with his smash, tying some very familiar faces with his first major win.

By opening at No. 2, Jin’s “Yours” is now tied as the second-highest-charting song by a South Korean solo musician in the history of the Digital Song Sales ranking, which every week lists the tracks that actually sold the most copies. That makes the roster different from other tallies, such as the Hot 100, which also include other forms of consumption.

“Yours” is now on the same level as V’s “Sweet Night” and Suga’s “Daechwita,” which both peaked in second place on the Digital Song Sales chart. Those musicians are bandmates of Jin’s in BTS.

The only song by a South Korean musician working on their own that’s risen higher than “Yours,” “Sweet Night” and “Daechwita” is Psy’s “Gangnam Style.” That track was an inescapable viral sensation back in 2012, and it quickly became a proper hit in America, selling and streaming incredibly well. The cut shot right to No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart, making Psy the first K-pop act to reach the summit. He still remains the only soloist from the Asian nation to rule over the purchase-only list.

The only South Korean act of any kind to climb higher than Jin’s “Yours” is BTS, and the band has done so with nine different singles. Several songs from the same band have also stalled in the runner-up rung as well. Just one other name from the K-pop world, Blackpink, has landed at No. 2, which they’ve managed more than once.

“Yours” launches at No. 2 on the Digital Song Sales chart with just under 13,200 copies sold, according to information shared by MRC Data.
