When Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart refreshes tomorrow (November 16), a member of the most successful group to ever emerge from South Korea will debut close to the top of the list of the bestselling tracks in the U.S. The placement is historical significant, and it brings him to the roster for the first time without his bandmates.
BTS member Jin is slated to debut at No. 2 on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart with his recently released tune “Yours.” The tune will open in the runner-up rung with just under 13,200 copies sold, according to information shared by MRC Data. The K-pop superstar comes in behind only Adele’s “Easy on Me,” which will return to the throne for another turn in the spotlight. “Yours” misses out on besting “Easy on Me” by fewer than 1,500 copies.
“Yours” will mark Jin’s first appearance on the Digital Song Sales chart as a solo musician. As a member of BTS, he has reached the list with 58 different tunes, nine of which have climbed all the way to No. 1. While Jin has performed a handful of the group’s songs entirely on his own, all tracks released by BTS are credited to the act, as opposed to individual members.
Jin is about to become the latest member of BTS to appear on the Digital Song Sales chart on his own, joining his bandmates Suga (sometimes working under the name Agust D), RM, J-Hope and V in this feat.
MORE FOR YOU
By launching at No. 2, Jin’s “Yours” instantly becomes one of the highest-charting hits of all time by a South Korean soloist. The only artists from the Asian nation that have reached the top two on the purchase-focused tally are Psy, Suga and V. Looking at all acts, they are joined in this demonstration of power by BTS and Blackpink, who have also managed to place at least one cut inside the loftiest reaches of the ranking.
“Yours” is featured on the original soundtrack that accompanies the South Korean TV series Jirisan. The tune is one of several new songs that will debut inside the top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart in a day or so, with just-dropped hits by the likes of Post Malone and The Weeknd (“One Right Now,” No. 3), Travis Scott (“Escape Plan,” No. 7) and Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak (“Smokin’ Out the Window,” No. 8) also kicking off their time on the tally inside the highest tier.
