Those who look at this week’s Canadian Hot 100 chart will largely be focused on the exciting new releases that launch toward the top of the ranking of the most-consumed songs in the nation. Just-dropped singles by the likes of Post Malone and The Weeknd (“One Right Now,” No. 7) and Travis Scott (“Escape Plan,” No. 9) start off inside the top 10, and a handful of other anticipated tunes also find space on the tally inside the upper half of the list. A bit further down, one tune on its way out helps the singer behind it make history.
Lisa’s “Money” slides slightly this week, stepping back from No. 47 to No. 51 on the Canadian Hot 100. While the tune continues to lose ground, the fact that it has found space on the tally once again is notable, as it is now one one of the sturdiest hits among K-pop musicians of all time. When looking solely at women in that field, Lisa has snagged yet another piece of history with her latest smash.
“Money” has now been present on the Canadian Hot 100 for seven weeks, and that’s already a record. Lisa’s second hit on the ranking is now the longest-charting song among solo female K-pop artists in the country’s history. Before this frame, “Money” was tied with Psy and CL’s “Daddy,” which spent half a dozen turns somewhere on the list before falling off for good.
Before “Money” found its way to the Canadian Hot 100, Lisa made her grand debut on the chart with “Lalisa,” her debut solo single. The track only managed a pair of frames on the tally before disappearing, and a few weeks later, “Money” doubled her total number of placements on the roster. Now, the second single has risen higher and held on longer, becoming the biggest hit of Lisa’s solo career. As a member of Blackpink, she has appeared on the ranking with 11 tunes, many of which broke into the top 40.
Looking at all K-pop solo musicians, Lisa is currently only being beaten by Psy, who has seen several songs carve out space on the Canadian Hot 100 for longer stretches of time than her single “Money.” Looking at how slowly her tune is declining in status on the chart, her smash could eventually match Psy’s hits, though for the moment, it’s impressive enough that her smash is the longest-charting track among solo female K-pop stars.
