Beloved San Francisco Bodega Cat Killed by Waymo Self-Driving Automobile, Neighbors Say

San Francisco is reeling after the lack of one among its most beloved bodega cats … a neighborhood fixture who, in line with his proprietor, was tragically struck and killed by a Waymo self-driving automotive.

KitKat — the resident feline at Randa’s Market within the Mission District — was reportedly hit by a driverless Waymo late Monday. An area resident instructed Mission Native he was driving down the road when he noticed the Waymo immediately swerve … and folks on the sidewalk began shouting and grabbed the cat because the Waymo drove off.

A 311 metropolis grievance said KitKat was close to the shop, sitting on the sidewalk subsequent to the transit lane when he was struck — and the self-driving taxi “did not even try to stop.”

For practically a decade, KitKat wasn’t only a cat — he was the “Mayor of 16th Street”  — and retailer proprietor Mike Zeidan says the outpouring of affection has been extremely touching.

Simply one other reminder that self-driving doesn’t at all times imply secure driving, one thing Elon Musk is being reminded of — his automotive firm Tesla gives self-driving choices — with people flooding his X feed by tagging him in KitKat’s heartbreaking story.
