On paper it’s credible but in reality Parker should not lose to Martin Bakole. If Bakole does win he has to be given maximum props for turning up with 48 hours’ notice. He looked big, you’re thinking whether it is good business to forfeit an eliminator?

“I feel he is pondering ‘I’ve beat this man up in sparring on the common’, that I feel is the principle motivation for taking this. It is a present of confidence to take such a calculated gamble. I feel he is fitness center match, not battle match, nevertheless it needed to be him. I might count on Joseph Parker to win this one. If it was on a good keel I might be giving a distinct reply.”

He got himself into position to fight Efe Ajagba in a final IBF eliminator in May, and is putting all that on the line. He’ll be fighting 20 hours after he lands, which is quite insane.

“It is a huge, huge process to drag it off, however now we have to recollect it is heavyweight boxing and Bakole is a great operator. He is a man that is not only a large heavy-handed man, there’s a variety of thought course of behind his work and he throws photographs from awkward angles.

I think people are getting a bit carried away with Bakole being this bogeyman of the heavyweight division. Good fighter, but who has he beaten? He also has this idea he can walk through anything and get it done, but when he starts fighting the elite it doesn’t work out for you like that, these guys can crack. I know he’ll come unstuck when the level goes up.”

Joshua Buatsi vs Callum Smith – who wins?

Nelson: “I think if it goes the distance Buatsi has beaten Smith on points, if it’s inside the distance I would expect it to be Callum Smith. We’ve seen what Callum Smith is capable of doing, his resume says it all. You realise how big a deal this is. Buatsi you know for a fact has the talent but we haven’t seen it. It’s not being unfair going with what you’ve seen. Saturday night is his chance to say ‘this is who I am’. He’s done just enough to beat people. Fairly, you have to lean towards Smith to get the stoppage win.”

Coldwell: “I think Callum Smith. I like both, both have had great careers, but Buatsi’s is one that has flattered to deceive for me. He’s had three tough fights at domestic level in Dan Azeez, Craig Richards and Willy Hutchinson. Look at what Smith has done. It’s not like he’s a little guy going up to light-heavyweight, he’s a guy who was shrinking down to super-middleweight.

“I really feel Callum is certainly one of these fighters who when questioned is sort of insulted. Buatsi will get nailed with proper fingers and all the time has performed, I take a look at Callum’s vary, he is a spiteful boxer and may battle on the within. I feel Callum Smith beats him.”

Oliver: “You look at Buatsi and think this is nine years in the making since he turned professional. Fox: “That is the hardest one to name, I’ll go Buatsi purely due to momentum. He is been combating a bit extra often and Callum is coming into what you’d consider is the top of his profession, however I am not saying it with any conviction.”
