World No 1 Luke Humphries has admitted he wants a break from darts after being left “emotionless” from enjoying too many video games.
Humphries, who options weekly in Premier League Darts, participated within the Worldwide Darts Open in Germany this weekend – his eleventh match look of 2025.
The 2024 world champion says his psychological state has been affected by the relentless schedule, which he labelled a chore.
“I feel a bit emotionless,” Humphries mentioned. “I feel like I’m up here and my emotions are all over the place.
“It isn’t that I do not need to be right here, it simply appears a chore for me in the mean time. I am enjoying an excessive amount of.
“I need to give something away, I need a break. It’s not good for my mental state.”
Humphries’ feedback prompted a social media backlash, with followers accusing the 30-year-old of being indifferent from the true world.
Humphries posted an emotional response to the criticism, which he mentioned would deter him from ever expressing his true emotions to the general public once more.
“Considering the comments, people not understanding what I meant… [this] will be the last time I ever confess my real feelings to the public,” he mentioned.
“Everything I ever say or do just never seems to be good enough for anybody…
“So long as nobody complains after we all give the identical solutions in interviews like robots and never our true emotions. Then everybody I suppose will likely be blissful, or as normal will nonetheless discover a method to moan at us.”
