Novak Djokovic-founded gamers’ union begins authorized motion in opposition to tennis’ governing our bodies

A tennis gamers’ union co-founded by Novak Djokovic has began authorized motion in opposition to the game’s governing our bodies.

The Skilled Tennis Gamers’ Affiliation (PTPA) has filed papers at the US District Courtroom in New York.

The lawsuit makes quite a lot of robust claims round quite a lot of points – the PTPA alleges there are anti-competitive practices and a scarcity of participant welfare within the sport.

It says “professional tennis players are stuck in a rigged game” which supplies them “limited control over their own careers and brands”.

They’re taking motion in opposition to the Affiliation of Tennis Professionals (ATP), Girls’s Tennis Affiliation (WTA), Worldwide Tennis Federation (ITF) and Worldwide Tennis Integrity Company (ITIA).

The criticism is being introduced by the PTPA and 12 gamers – together with Djokovic, his co-founder Vasek Pospisil and Nick Kyrgios – “on behalf of the entire player population”.

Government director of the PTPA Ahmad Nassar stated: “Tennis is damaged. Behind the glamorous veneer that the defendants promote, gamers are trapped in an unfair system that exploits their expertise, suppresses their earnings, and jeopardises their well being and security.

“We have exhausted all options for reform through dialogue, and the governing bodies have left us no choice but to seek accountability through the courts. Fixing these systemic failures isn’t about disrupting tennis – it’s about saving it for the generations of players and fans to come.”

The Worldwide Tennis Integrity Authority have advised Sky Sports activities Information they’ve obtained the declare from the Skilled Tennis Gamers’ Affiliation.
