Angie Stone
GoFundMe Bans Fraudulent Fundraiser
After 1000’s Raised!!!
Revealed
A fraudulent fundraiser claiming to help Angie Stone‘s legacy simply days after her loss of life has been banned by GoFundMe — after raking in over $12K.
A GoFundMe spokesperson confirmed to TMZ that each one donations have been refunded, and the organizer, going by the title “Lenda Peers,” has been banned from any future fundraising.
Sometimes, on GoFundMe, a beneficiary is clearly named if funds are being raised for another person.
However, this specific fundraiser by no means talked about how the cash could be used or how Angie’s household could be supported. As a substitute, the bio simply gave a short rundown of Angie’s fame and her loss of life.
Chatting with us, the spokesperson added … “At no level did the organizer have entry to any of the donations. GoFundMe has zero tolerance for the misuse of our platform and takes swift motion towards those that search to benefit from the generosity of our neighborhood.
“While cases of misuse are rare, donors and beneficiaries are fully protected by GoFundMe’s Giving Guarantee. We are continuing to closely monitor the platform for any fundraisers related to the passing of Angie Stone and will remove those found to be in violation of our Terms of Service.”
It was undoubtedly suspicious exercise … the $12K that was raised was only a fraction of the $25K purpose — however fortunately, it was shut down earlier than it hit its goal.
As we advised you, Stone’s actual household is planning for a public memorial in Atlanta and a smaller funeral ceremony in Columbia, South Carolina. TMZ broke the devastating information she was killed in a site visitors accident Saturday morning.
