PARIS (Reuters) -The European Central Financial institution (ECB) is “very likely” to scale back its rates of interest subsequent week, policymaker Francois Villeroy de Galhau stated on Wednesday.
“A cut is very likely and it will not be the last one, the rhythm depending on how the fight against inflation evolves,” Villeroy advised franceinfo radio station.
Villeroy, who can also be the pinnacle of the French central financial institution, has stated the ECB would possible lower rates of interest later this month as a result of weak financial development.
Twice already this yr, the ECB has lower rates- initially at document highs – and markets anticipate extra coverage easing in October and December as inflation is easing sooner than policymakers had predicted.
