Suga is back on the Hot 100 this week with his new collaborative single “Girl of My Dreams.” The tune, which is fronted by late rapper Juice WRLD, debuts at No. 29 on the weekly ranking of the most-consumed songs in the country. That’s a lofty position for the two musicians, and the title quickly becomes the highest-peaking cut from the posthumously-released Fighting Demons. Its immediate success also helps Suga match some of the most successful names to come out of the K-pop space.
As “Girl of My Dreams” opens in twenty-ninth place, Suga earns his second Hot 100 hit, aside from the music he’s released as part of a band, that is. The singer, rapper and producer has now landed on the tally twice on his own, and with just a pair of wins on the ranking, he ties two other musicians for the second-most placements on the list of all time among K-pop soloists.
Suga first reached the Hot 100 in mid-2020 with his single “Daechwita,” taken from his solo mixtape D-2. The cut quickly debuted at No. 76 and then vanished the following week. The project was released under his alter ego Agust D, and the tune was credited to the same name. At the time, he was one of only a very small number of solo acts known primarily for creating K-pop to land on the tally.
With his second solo Hot 100 hit, Suga ties with both CL and Blackpink singer and rapper Lisa, both of whom have also appeared on the chart twice with singles of their own. CL first hit the chart way back in 2015 alongside Psy on his single “Daddy,” which kept his years-long winning streak going. In 2016, he returned to the list for the second time with her own “Lifted,” which improved her best standing by several spots. Lisa of the South Korean girl group Blackpink scored both of her solo Hot 100 smashes in the second half of 2021, with both “Lalisa” and “Money” making their way to the roster.

Only one K-pop solo musician has reached the Hot 100 with more songs than CL and Lisa, and that is Psy. The first solo artist from South Korea to make it to the ranking has landed on the tally with “Gangnam Style” (No. 2), “Gentleman” (No. 5), “Hangover” with Snoop Dogg (No. 26) and the aforementioned “Daddy” with CL (No. 97).
Of course, Suga has also appeared on the Hot 100 many times as a member of the biggest band in the world, BTS. The man sometimes known as Suga and other times called Agust D has been a part of 23 tunes by the group that have struck the chart, including nine top 10 smashes and half a dozen leaders.
