Jennifer Lopez is returning to romantic comedies — the movie genre that defined her acting career and made her an on-screen superstar — for the first time in a decade, with the release of Marry Me, the trailer for which was released Thursday.

In the ultra-meta Marry Me, Lopez portrays a superstar singer who is set to get married live on stage to another pop star, played by Maluma, but learns he is cheating on her, and instead weds an unassuming stranger from the audience, who is played by Owen Wilson.
The movie is set to be released on February 14, 2022.
That won’t be her only rom-com next year: Lopez will also star in Shotgun Wedding, an action-romance flick co-starring Josh Duhamel, who replaced Armie Hammer after sexual assault allegations were leveled against Hammer earlier this year.
Marry Me features original music from Lopez and Maluma, who released the song “Pa Ti” together last year.

Lopez’s pop-star status isn’t the only thing she shares with her Marry Me character. Lopez was engaged to A-Lister Alex Rodriguez and were together for four years until rumors swirled that he allegedly cheated on her, according to Page Six. The two announced their split in April, and Lopez quickly moved on to a new relationship, though her new beau isn’t an average Joe. She and Ben Affleck rekindled their long-dormant relationship that same month.
