At long last, a trailer showing actual footage from Netflix’s upcoming live-action remake of legendary anime Cowboy Bebop is about to go live.
The new trailer lands this afternoon shortly after 4pm PT / 7PM EST /6PM CST following a livestream event that kicks off on the hour.
Given the popularity of the anime, this is set to be a pretty big Netflix Original, though there has already been controversy surrounding certain costume choices made for Daniella Pineda’s Faye Valentine.
Here’s the official summary of the show:
“Cowboy Bebop is an action-packed space Western about three bounty hunters, aka “cowboys,” all trying to outrun the past. As different as they are deadly, Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) form a scrappy, snarky crew ready to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals – for the right price. But they can only kick and quip their way out of so many scuffles before their pasts finally catch up with them.”
You can watch the livestream event below. Special guests are set to appear before the trailer itself goes live and Netflix is promising “special rewards” as well, so definitely keep an eye out on the below video:
MORE FOR YOU
Also worth noting, if you haven’t seen the original anime, Cowboy Bebop joined Netflix just a few days ago on October 21st so you can get all caught up before the live-action version lands on November 19th.
That release date sets it up against Amazon’s epic fantasy series The Wheel Of Time which debuts its first two episodes the same day, with subsequent episodes each Friday. I’ll be reviewing both shows, so stay tuned to this blog.
