BTS are no strangers to scoring hit singles almost anywhere in the world, especially in their home country of South Korea. This week is especially notable for the septet, as they collect a new top 10 smash as two of their most recent wins continue to succeed on the Gaon Digital chart, which ranks the most popular, most-consumed songs in South Korea every week using a methodology that combines sales, streaming and what is called BGM, which stands for background music (which is usually used in various forms of media).
As The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” keeps at No. 1 for another week, BTS claim three spaces inside just the top 10 on the Gaon Digital chart. The band’s new single “My Universe,” a collaboration with Codlplay, jumps more than 10 rungs to No. 2, narrowly missing out on becoming another leader for the septet. Down at No. 7 comes “Permission to Dance,” while “Butter” returns to the highest tier once again, lifting a pair of slots to find space at No. 10.
BTS’s surging “My Universe” pushes the next three highest-ranking tracks down several spots, with Lee Moo-jin’s “Traffic Light,” Aespa’s “Next Level” and D-Hack and Pateko’s “Okayo My Night” all slipping one rung apiece. Those cuts land at Nos. 3, 4 and 5, respectively.
Steady at Nos. 6 and 8, respectively (in between BTS’s “Permission to Dance”) are MSG Wannabe’s “Foolish Love” and AKMU’s “Fall” with IU. Taeyeon’s “Weekend” declines two spaces to tenth place, putting it just ahead of BTS’s “Butter” at No. 9.
