For the second week in a row, NCT 127 rules the Gaon Albums chart in their home country of South Korea, the ranking of the bestselling full-lengths, EPs and single albums in the nation, looking at how many copies were shipped to stores. The band’s new project Sticker opened in first place last frame, and this time around it’s unbeatable once again.
Just two titles debut inside the top 10 on this week’s Gaon Albums chart, a relatively small number, though that fact means there’s more room for popular titles to return. Four titles that previously appeared inside the highest tier find their way back into the loftiest space once again.
New at No. 2 is Crazy in Love, the latest release from South Korean girl group Itzy. The set is their first full-length, and it brings them back to the highest tier on the tally as it launches in second place. The title’s lead single “Loco” starts off at No. 7 on the Gaon Download ranking and No. 97 on the all-encompassing 200-spot Gaon Digital list.
Coming in right behind that debut is the only other new launch of the week. Yang Yo-seob’s Chocolate Box kicks off its time on the tally in third place on the Gaon Albums chart. The singer, songwriter and actor, who got his start as a member of the now defunct band Highlight, lands his third top 10 with his debut full project. The title is powered by the single “Brain,” which starts off as the third-bestselling song in South Korea this week, as well as at No. 68 on the all-consumption ranking.
MORE FOR YOU
Down from No. 1 to No. 4 is Lisa’s Lalisa, the first single album from the Blackpink singer and rapper.
Four albums bolt back into the top 10 on this week’s Gaon Albums chart, as there isn’t quite as much competition from new releases. The highest-ranking of those successful titles is Noeasy by Stray Kids, which vaults 14 spaces to No. 5. The project opened atop the tally in August, and it’s still selling well.
After launching at No. 5 last week, Wonho sees his latest EP Blue Letter slip just one rung to No. 6, showing it has real staying power.
BTS claim two spots inside the top 10 on the list of the bestselling albums in South Korea this week, as a pair of incredibly successful studio efforts surge back into the highest space. Map of the Soul: Persona pushes from outside the top 20 to No. 7, while Love Yourself: Her improves 11 rungs to No. 9.
In between BTS’s hit releases on this week’s Gaon Albums chart is Changer: Dear Eris by South Korean boy band A.C.E, which has been performing well since it was released a month ago.
Closing out the top 10 on this week’s Gaon Albums ranking is The Awakening: Written in the Stars by another all-male vocal act, Cravity. That title jumps a notable 19 spots to No. 10 after peaking at No. 3 in August.
