Drake is the king of the Hot 100 this week in pretty much every fashion imaginable. He claims one new leader, nine top 10 hits, and more than half of the entire top 40 region, as well as one-fifth of the ranking itself. He proves himself to be one of the most popular acts of all time yet again, and he furthers his historic leads over every other act in terms of total number of placements in every region on the list.

While Drake may be the big story this week, he isn’t the only act turning heads and making history this time around.

Here’s a look at five of the most important moves on this week’s Hot 100 singles chart.

No. 1 – Drake – “Way 2 Sexy (ft. Young Thug & Future)”

Drake rules both the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 simultaneously, as his new album Certified Lover Boy launches in first place, while the set’s first single “Way 2 Sexy” begins its time on the songs-only ranking at No. 1. The track is Drake’s ninth leader on the most important singles roster in the U.S. and his record-matching fifth chart-topping debut. The cut is also the third champion for Young Thug and the first for Future, who finally makes it to the peak position.

While he’s surely celebrating the No. 1 debut of “Way 2 Sexy,” that one track only shows a small bit of the rapper’s success this week. Drake claims nine spots inside the top 10 on the Hot 100, a first in history, and all 21 tracks featured on Certified Lover Boy find space inside the top 40 on the tally.

No. 6 – The Kid Laroi & Justin Bieber – “Stay”

This week, only one song that doesn’t credit Drake is present inside the top 10 on the Hot 100, breaking up what otherwise could have been an all-encompassing domination of the highest tier on the tally. The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber see their former leader “Stay” decline from No. 2 to No. 6, though it could easily bounce back to the summit in the coming frames.

No. 17 – BTS – “Butter”

Last week, BTS controlled the Hot 100 once again, as their single “Butter” bolted back to the summit following the release of a new updated version with a rap verse by Megan Thee Stallion. Now, the tune craters as Drake invades the highest reaches of the chart.

“Butter” slips from No. 1 to No. 17, and in doing so, it makes history in two ways. First, the track breaks out of a tie as the fourth-longest-charting song by a South Korean musical act, earning its sixteenth stay on the list. The cut also suffers the fifth-largest fall from the peak position, matching the same tumble experienced by The Weeknd’s “Heartless” in 2019.

No. 87 – Meek Mill – “Blue Note$ II (ft. Lil Uzi Vert)”

One of the only songs to debut on this week’s Hot 100 that isn’t connected to Certified Lover Boy is Meek Mill’s “Blue Note$ II,” which blasts onto the tally at No. 87. The cut appears to be the second single from the rapper’s forthcoming album Expensive Pain, due later this fall. It arrives not long after “Sharing Locations,” which peaked at No. 22 on the same list very recently.

“Blue Note$ II” credits Lil Uzi Vert, who adds to his career total Hot 100 appearances once more. Mill has now landed on the tally with 56 tracks, while Vert counts 81 wins in his discography.
