Liverpool have confirmed a Soccer Affiliation investigation into allegations goalkeeper Rafaela Borggrafe used “discriminatory language” has their full assist.

Borggrafe’s alleged feedback, reported to have made reference to pores and skin color, have been overheard by Liverpool team-mates and employees throughout a squad photo-shoot.

Liverpool reported the incident to the FA and have confirmed the governing physique has launched an investigation.

A membership spokesperson mentioned: “Liverpool Football Club is aware of an alleged use of discriminatory language by an LFC Women’s player.

“The membership has adopted its protocols to the fullest extent and the alleged incident has been reported to the FA, which is conducting an investigation with our full assist.

“We condemn all forms of discrimination; it has no place in football or society. We are unable to comment further while the investigation is ongoing.”

Borggrafe, 25, has but to make her Liverpool debut after becoming a member of the Ladies’s Tremendous League membership from Freiburg this summer time on a free switch.

The alleged incident occurred as Liverpool’s squad was getting ready for a group {photograph} earlier than their opening WSL recreation in opposition to Everton earlier this month.

Borggrafe was neglected of the squad and was not chosen for the match, which Liverpool misplaced 4-1, however has since rejoined the squad for coaching and was an unused substitute in final Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Leicester.
