Liverpool vs Bournemouth was stopped within the twenty eighth minute after an allegation of a racist remark aimed toward Antoine Semenyo.
Each Arne Slot and Andoni Iraola had been spoken to by the referee Anthony Taylor after the sport was paused.
“I am told via the Premier League Match Centre that Antoine Semenyo was the subject of a racist comment from the crowd,” reported Sky Sports activities’ Peter Drury on commentary.
“It was Semenyo himself who brought attention to it.”
The sport resumed once more within the thirty first minute.
Sky Sports activities’ Laura Hunter, in attendance at Anfield, later reported a fan was ejected from the stadium.
“In the wake of the game being halted after Semenyo reported being racially abused, Liverpool staff and members of the police have been in conversation on the side of the pitch and during half time.
“And simply earlier than the second half began, we’ve got seen a fan being escorted away by cops.”
The Premier League said the incident will now be “absolutely investigated”.
“Tonight’s match between Liverpool Soccer Membership and AFC Bournemouth was briefly paused throughout the first half after a report of discriminatory abuse from the group, directed at Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo. That is according to the Premier League’s on-field anti-discrimination protocol,” the Premier League said in a statement.
“The incident at Anfield will now be absolutely investigated. We provide our full assist to the participant and each golf equipment. Racism has no place in our recreation, or anyplace in society. We are going to proceed to work with stakeholders and authorities to make sure our stadiums are an inclusive and welcoming setting for all.”
