Xyere Brooks — a highschool soccer star in New Jersey — tragically misplaced his life throughout a taking pictures on Friday, authorities introduced.
He was simply 16 years outdated.
In line with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Workplace, cops responded to a report of gunfire at a Camden residence … and located Brooks affected by a bullet wound.
Brooks was rushed to a close-by hospital … although, sadly, he succumbed to his accidents whereas there.
The prosecutor’s workplace stated a number of juveniles have been within the dwelling on the time of the incident, and detectives are nonetheless making an attempt to determine what occurred.
“No criminal charges have been filed at this time,” the prosecutor’s workplace stated. “This investigation is active and ongoing. No further information will be released at this time.”
Brooks’ brother, Manazh Tompkins, informed 6ABC the taking pictures was a horrible accident.
“She put the gun to his head, and I guess she didn’t expect it to go off,” Tompkins stated to the outlet. “To make a long story short, the gun went off on my brother, and he’s no longer here with us.”
Brooks, a sophomore, was a standout soccer participant at Kipp Excessive College … and had been receiving curiosity from school applications like Syracuse and Rutgers.
“Xyere was a supportive teammate and friend, a dedicated student, and a standout on the football field whose talent and determination left a strong impression on all who knew him,” Kipp H.S. stated in an announcement.
“We are holding Xyere’s family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved him in our hearts. 💙❤️.”
