VATICAN CITY — Black smoke streamed from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel on Thursday morning in Rome, signaling that the 133 cardinal electors haven’t come to a two-thirds settlement about who the subsequent pontiff needs to be.

With Wednesday’s opening poll, meaning the cardinals have voted 3 times with out electing a brand new pope. They’re scheduled to vote two extra occasions on Thursday afternoon.
