7 Ways Blackpink’s Lisa Proved Her Immense Popularity On Billboard’s Dance Chart

Last week, a new single appeared on a number of Billboard charts, standing out as one of the most successful dance/electronic and Latin songs of the period. “SG,” which featured DJ Snake, Ozuna, Megan Thee Stallion and Lisa of the band Blackpink, quickly became a big hit on more than half a dozen rankings, and simply by starting where it did, the last musician in that list proved just how popular she is, regardless of genre.

Here are seven ways Lisa made history and showed she’s a powerhouse on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.

Highest-Charting Hit By A Solo Female K-Pop Musician

In an instant, “SG” became the highest-charting song of all time that is fronted by or features a solo female K-pop musician. Impressively, it achieved that feat by debuting close to the top of the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, not by climbing to a new peak like many hits have to do. “SG” launched at No. 4.

Second Solo Female K-Pop Musician To Chart A Top 10 Hit

“SG” made Lisa just the second female K-pop artist (working on their own) to reach the top 10 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. She follows in the footsteps of CL, who once rose to No. 6. Until last week, her placement stood as the loftiest placement among artists that fit this description.

Third Solo K-Pop Musician To Chart A Top 10 Hit

In addition to CL and Lisa, only one other solo K-pop act has broken into the top 10 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, and that was Psy. He outpaces everyone else on this list, as not only did he push all the way to No. 1 (he remains the only South Korean artist of any kind to run the show), but he has also accrued four top 10 smashes on the list.

Tied As The Second-Highest-Charting Hit By A Solo K-Pop Musician

By landing at No. 4, “SG” became the second-highest-ranking single by a K-pop soloist in the history of the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, and it’s not alone in this position. Two of Psy’s hits, “Gangnam Style” and “Hangover” with Snoop Dogg, both peaked in the same spot. The same artist’s “Gentleman” rose all the way to No. 1.

Fifth K-Pop Act To Chart A Top 10 Hit

Looking at all kinds of K-pop acts, Lisa became the fifth name to enter the top 10 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. In addition to both the aforementioned Psy and CL, she joined BTS and Blackpink in this feat.

Tied As The Third-Highest-Charting Hit By A K-Pop Musician

Only two tunes by K-pop musicians have reached loftier positions on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart than “SG.” As is highlighted above, Psy’s “Gentleman” sat on the throne for a spell, while Lady Gaga and Blackpink’s “Sour Candy” nearly repeated that showing, peaking at No. 3. Lisa’s latest is on the same level as both Psy singles (“Hangover” and “Gangnam Style”) that stopped at No. 4.

Fifth Solo K-Pop Musician To Chart

Considering the entire 50-spot Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, Lisa is still just the fifth solo K-pop artist to appear anywhere on the ranking. On top of Psy and CL, she joins a club that also includes G-Dragon and Chanyeol, who have also landed wins on the tally.
