1000’s marched Thursday in Los Angeles, Phoenix and different cities throughout the U.S. to protest towards Trump administration insurance policies and for employees’ rights on Might Day, often known as Worldwide Employees Day.

The theme for the downtown Los Angeles rally was “One struggle, One fight – Workers unite.”

The Los Angeles Might Day Coalition stated it anticipated its largest turnout but. The coalition contains nearly 90 labor unions and hundreds of employees and residents.

The principle Los Angeles rally began at 9 a.m. at West Olympic and South Figueroa streets. It was adopted by marches to the Metropolitan Detention Middle. Extra occasions occurred later in Boyle Heights and MacArthur Park.

Along with the rallies and marches on Might Day, 20,000 College of California employees reportedly went on a one-day strike Thursday at UC campuses, hospitals and laboratories all through the state to protest a hiring freeze. “The teachers union should refocus its efforts on a single goal — to provide educational excellence for our children,” Hoge stated. “Non-related political infiltrators derail this. We support education, not indoctrination.”
