NEW YORK (Reuters) -Hundreds of U.S. resort staff in a number of cities are on a multi-day strike after contract talks with resort operators Marriott Worldwide (NASDAQ:), Hilton Worldwide, and Hyatt Inns (NYSE:) reached an deadlock, the Unite Right here union mentioned on Sunday.

Unite Right here, which represents staff in motels, casinos, and airports throughout the US and Canada, mentioned greater than 4,000 staff are on strike in San Francisco and San Jose in California, in addition to Boston, Seattle, and Greenwich, Connecticut, with resort staff from extra cities prepared to hitch the walkout because the Labor Day vacation weekend continues.

“Strikes have also been authorized and could begin at any time” in Baltimore, Honolulu, Kauai, New Haven, Oakland, Windfall and San Diego, the union mentioned in an announcement as resort staff and operators battle to agree on wages and on reversing pandemic-era job cuts.

This Labor Day weekend, hundreds of resort staff will likely be on strike because the trade faces an inflow of vacationers, with AAA reserving information displaying a 9% enhance in home journey in comparison with final 12 months.
